At SJS Studios we help our clients envision and achieve a better place to experience life.  With each project, we craft an innovative design solution that is not only functional, but that is inspiring, memorable and supports the occupant’s well-being.

There are many layers to each project, and we ensure that they are well composed and coordinated.  Throughout the process, we are thoughtful to budget and schedule and we tailor our services and designs to ensure we meet the client’s strategic goals.  We foster a collaborative design process, in which we listen and work closely with our clients to understand their perspective and vision to help create a space that is uniquely their own. To ensure that each project is functional far into the future, we plan for flexibility to accommodate changes.  We integrate the principles of sustainability, green and well building best practices on every project as we believe these features are intrinsic to good design.

SJS Studios ensures that each client receives hands on leadership attention to ensure each project is delivered at the highest level of quality. Founder + Principal

 

Stephen offers his clients a full range of architectural knowledge with his unique combination of design, creativity, technical and management skills.  Stephen has over 18 years of experience in architecture, design and construction management. Prior to starting SJS Studios, Stephen was an Associate at ID Studios, an architecture, interior design and strategic planning firm, where he was responsible for the design and project management for many significant corporate office projects.

Previously, Stephen was an Associate, Technology and Financial Service Firm Practice Area Leader as well as Sustainability/Resilience Leader at Gensler, the world’s largest architecture firm. While at Gensler, Stephen lead many successful projects for the following practice areas: Workplace (Technology, Sciences, Media, Legal, Government, Financial Services, Energy),Critical Facilities, Data Centers, Civic, Retail, Food and Beverage, Lab, Higher Education, Workplace Strategy and Brand Design.

In addition, Stephen was a Lead Designer and Project Manager at Douglas Okun and Associates, Architecture, Planning and Interior Design Firm based in Cambridge, MA, where he lead projects for Harvard University as well for many single and multi-family residential, corporate office and retail clients.

Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of Architecture Degree from Roger Williams University School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation. Stephen is a licensed architect in CA and AZ, and active in the San Diego chapter of the Urban Land Institute, NAIOP, USGBC, WELL AP, NCARB and AIA.
